We need to more wholistically support health – the health of people, communities, our food supply, ecosystems – and all life.
eDNA monitoring offers a non-invasive, cost-effective, rapid, and more wholistic way to assess population health, agricultural health, and ecosystem health.
The goal of this site is to provide information relevant to eDNA surveillance & monitoring activities in Canada (including resources, tools, and protocols). We inclusively define environmental DNA “eDNA” as encompassing DNA or RNA that has been collected from water-associated natural and built environments (e.g. lakes, rivers, water treatment facilities, etc.).
This site was created initially as part of the iMicroSeq Project, which is integrating diverse microbial data, in collaboration with iTrackDNA and eDNA Explorer Canada, which is improving animal-based eDNA surveillance. Together we aim to initiate more integrated support for eDNA-based research and applications.
This site is currently managed by Erin Gill, Fiona Brinkman and Justin Jia at Simon Fraser University in Metro Vancouver, Canada.
